Research is telling us that athletes with greater core stability have improved overall performance and a lower risk of injury.  Strength versus stability?  Does doing more crunches or sit ups give you a stable core?  Having a nice six pack and strong abdominal muscles may look good but will not necessarily stabilize the core in a running motion.  Training for core stability requires a stable base for movement of the arms and legs through activation of the deep abdominals.  See more at link below.  runninginjuryclinic.cmail...41B5D209E?hc_location=ufi
