2011 Not-the-Honolulu Marathon Fun Run
December 11th, 2011

Thanks to all runners who came out to the 2011 NTHM -- the 22nd running of this great event! We had approximately 80 participants, from three provinces and even the United States:  Cape Breton, New Glasgow, Halifax, Saint John, PEI, Maine, Minto, Miramichi, Yoho, Oromocto, New Maryland, Fredericton....  and other running hot-spots!! Five marathoners finished, one just under 3 hours, another just over 3 hours and the others not far behind. There were a number of half marathoners, quite a few 10 k runners and a good number of 5 k runners as well.

This was our first organized lap run and from all the favourable comments, it was a huge success! Given the variable December weather, and the increasing traffic volume in the neighbourhood, this may become a tradition.

Thanks to all the volunteers who helped out, and all the cheering spectators too! It was great to see the number of runners sharing their love of the outdoors and exercise with their dogs.

The weather was excellent for running; if that continues, we could consider renaming it "The-Almost-Honolulu Marathon."

Thanks to Jason at Isaac's Way for providing a fantastic brunch to a record number of runners and their families, and in particular for arranging the keg of Picaroon's finest from Shawn Dunbar!

Particular thanks to Mary and Gary Timberlake who provided 5 fabulous prizes for the poker run. Winners were Julie, Leo, Harry, Noortje and Marlien.
